Roseberry Sports & Community College is a dynamic school with Specialist Status in PE and Sport. We are a mixed 11 - 18 school with a 10 place special education needs Resource Base. We encourage ALL our Students to strive for excellence and achieve their full potential, whatever their ability, aptitude or vocation. Our motto is "Aim high, achieve high" and this ethos is strenuously applied to every aspect of College life - our much improved results are testament to this. We offer outstanding facilities that create a pleasant, purposeful, and often bespoke learning environment, which, together with a broad, modern curriculum allows students to work effectively in both academic and vocational studies. Specialist status enables us to offer tremendous sporting, recreational, creative and extra-curricular opportunities that further add to the richness of our students' experience. We have established a flourishing community programme, which sees the College open until 9:00pm week nights and most weekends when we welcome members of the local community to take part in our activities. We have very strong links with our feeder primary schools in both curriculum and pastoral areas but especially in PE and Sport. We are a hub school for the School Sports Co-ordinator Programme for the Chester-le-Street area and the liaison work undertaken through this partnership helps to support an easy transition for students from primary to secondary education. Our aim is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes that they will need to carry them confidently and successfully into their adult lives. We would be delighted to welcome you to our College. Ann Bowen - Principal |

Roseberry is a flourishing College with superb facilities and resources. An on-going development programme means that our premises have been extensively refurbished and improved offering dedicated accommodation for all subjects on a single site. Classrooms are well equipped and Science, Technology, Art and ICT rooms have been refurbished. All teaching rooms have inter-active whiteboards to enhance the learning experience. Specialist status has resulted in the major rebuilding of our PE facilities to cater for both our students and the local community, including facilities for the disabled. A bold move to in-house school meal provision together with a half million pound investment programme in the kitchen and dining areas allows us to offer what is widely regarded as one of the best catering facilities in the county. This played an important part in our recent achievement of Healthy School status (one of only six in the county at the time) for the Food for Life Partnership. Significant investment has also been made to modernise and update the infrastructure of the College to meet with the demands of 21st Century technology, and we are one of only a handful of schools in the county to use a Biometric Cashless Payment System for meals. |
